Mallorca, Spain is a very beautiful island. It is one of the Balearic Islands and is connected to the rest of the chain by bridges that can be crossed.
Mallorca is home to several amazing tourist sites including:
- La Seu, a sea-front gothic cathedral which took almost 300 years to complete
- Parc de la Mar, a multi-tiered park with modern sculptures and ceramic murals displayed throughout to offer amazing views
- The Almudaina Royal Palace which faces the La Seu and is noted for the statue of Gabriel the Archangel which crowns the Homage Tower
- The City of Palma, which hosts such attractions as the Arab baths, a perfect example of Muslim architecture
- The Valldemossa Monastery, a preserved church which shows how the monks lived as well as documenting the stay of Chopin
In addition to all of these sites, there are many secluded bays and beaches on the island for those looking to enjoy the natural island beauty of Mallorca. However, these beaches cannot be reached without a car, nor can the other islands connected to Mallorca. In order to get the most out of a visit to the culturally-rich island, you will need to rent, or as the locals in Europe call it, hire a car.

The process of renting a car is quite simple. Because Mallorca is such a popular year-round tourist destination, there are many companies who supply rental cars. There are some general rules that must be followed though. In order to rent a car, the driver must be at least 21 years of age and have held a driver's license for a minimum of one year. As in the United States, drivers under the age of 25 incur a young driver surcharge. Be cautious and make sure to choose a company that includes proper car rental insurance with the rental agreement.
